A new Census Bureau Research Data Center (RDC) will open this spring at the University Park campus.  The center, which will be located in Paterno library, will provide Penn State researchers access to restricted data on individuals and businesses that are collected in surveys by the Census Bureau and National Center for Health Statistics.  The data center will join a network of 17 centers that are open around the country.  Mark Roberts, Professor of Economics, will be the director of the Penn State center.

As part of the opening, the Department of Economics is hosting a two day conference on April 7-8, 2014 titled Social Science Research Using the RDC Network.  The conference will highlight research papers that use a range of data resources available in the RDC.  In addition to the research presentations, Rodney Erickson, President of Penn State, John H. Thompson, Director, US Census Bureau, and Mark Doms, Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs, will be speakers.

A preliminary program for the conference is available.
