Downtown State College

State College is the county's largest borough.  Downtown State College is a mix of specialty shops, large retail stores, banks, casual and fine dining establishments, and coffee shops.

View of College Avenue

If you were to walk on Allen Street or College Avenue you might see:  the Corner Room Restaurant and the Allen Street Grill, Panera Bread, Starbucks, Chili's, Abercrombie & Fitch, the Gap, Webster's Bookstore Cafe, The Artisan Connection and Eddie Bauer.

Ice Sculptures from First Night
Downtown State College helps to welcome the new year by hosting First Night festivities with music and performances, a parade, and ice sculptures.  Other downtown activities include the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts held the second week of July (held also on parts of the University Park campus) which showcases over 300 artists from across the country, entertainment and food.

Hout's General Store
Hout's is an "old style" general store.  Wonderfully convenient, it sells just about everything.
