EasyReg International, 2008 version
Differences between the versions September 12, 2007,
and February 25, 2008:
The February 25, 2008, version is merely a consolidation of the following updates
that were not yet included in the September 12, 2007 version.
- October 28, 2007:
The menu items regarding running EasyReg stand-alone from CD
have been moved to the Tools menu. Moreover, the Windows system files
are no longer copied to the EasyReg folder, but instead to a new folder,
"CopyEasyRegToCD", together with the entire contents of the EasyReg folder.
Furthermore, the last item in the help file (HELP.HTM) has been adjusted
accordingly. The Help menu now opens HELP.HTM directly.
- October 30, 2007:
The change made on October 28 also created a bug: Running EasyReg
from CD resulted in an error message. This bug has been repaired,
and EasyReg now runs from CD without problems.
- December 12, 2007:
The file FRACTIONS.PDF, which explains how to estimate a model with a
fraction as dependent variable, has been extended.
- February 22, 2008:
- The module DATAART which creates artificial data has been redesigned
and extended with Binomial Probit/Logit, Negative Binomial Probit/Logit
and Poisson data.
- Due to this extension of module DATAART I now have been able to test
the Binomial Probit, Negative Binomial Probit and Ordered Probit options
in the discrete dependent variable module LIMDEP. These options did not
work properly and have therefore been removed. The menu window of LIMDEP
has been redesigned. The guided tour involved has been adjusted accordingly.
- It appears that occasionally the EasyReg installer changes the date of
some files, which prevents them from upgrading. Therefore the EasyReg
upgrade module ERIUPGRADE now also checks for files with a later date than
the latest versions.
- Moreover, on the upgrade web pages generated by the EasyReg upgrade
modules the files that remain to be downloaded are now listed first.
The modules involved are COPYNEWER and COPYNEWERTOURS.
- February 23, 2008:
- At the novice econometrics level module OLS showed the variance matrices
and the information criteria. Now it does no longer.
- A new option has been added in module NEXTMENU for OLS regressions:
Manual forecasting. With this option you can input values for the
explanatory variables to forecasts the corresponding value of the
dependent variable, and endow it with confidence intervals. This option
is motivated by the undergraduate forecasting
course I am teaching.
- February 25, 2008:
- A non-essential bug in module DATAART has been fixed.
