The most important personal events in my life are my marriage on November 2, 1996, to my wife Katie Allen, the birth of my son, Brooks, on March 19, 2003, and the birth of my son Tobin on August 26, 2005.

.

Katie and I were married in the Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, VA, with a reception in the Virginia Room at the Williamsburg Lodge. It was quite a shindig.

Katie received her undergraduate degree from William and Mary, and she graduated from the Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in July 1999. She passed the Virginia Bar that same summer. She spent her third year as a visiting student at Washington and Lee in Lexington, VA. After working for two years at Long, Long and Kellerman in Blacksburg, Katie opened her own law firm in 2003. I am very proud of her for all of her accomplishments. Feel free to send her an email if you want--just click on her picture.

Aside from my interests in economics and music, I am actively involved in athletics. I love to play basketball, golf, and especially softball. I played my last season in
Blacksburg as the shortstop for The London Underground Pub in the Spring of 2004. This year I joined a great bunch of guys on a team here in Happy Valley.  Our team name is “Handyman” and we qualified for the playoffs by finishing 8th in a close race.  We were just 4 games out of first. Katie also plays, and together we helped our co-ed team win a championship while we were in Dallas in the summer of '97. Katie plays 1st and 2nd base, and she should be back on the field next summer after recovering from having Toby. She started our co-ed team in Blacksburg, "The Beast", which is lovingly named after our good dog.  That team is still going and doing very well from what I hear.

I am also interested in Civil War history, and I often take in fascinating lectures by Virginia Tech's famed Civil War scholar, Dr. James Robertson. I have visited many of the battlefields in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and I also try to attend the annual Civil War Weekend at Virginia Tech.

In this section, I have put together some links to some of my favorite spots. These include my alma mater, favorite sports teams, musical groups, movies, and a link to the Virginia Tech Civil War home page. Hope you enjoy!!
